Cape Town business hours throughout most city centre and suburban shops are weekdays 9am-5pm. They only open until 12.30 or 1pm on Saturdays. Supermarkets often keep longer opening hours. Large shopping malls all over Cape Town usually close later than city shops, and stay open late into the evening and all day Saturday, Sunday and most public holidays. Government agencies and businesses keep traditional weekday business hours. Banks in Cape Town close at 3.30pm on weekdays, and are open for business on Saturday mornings from 9am to 11am (only two hours).
Muslim-owned businesses close between noon and 1pm on Fridays in Cape Town.
